Eggnut, developer of Tails Noir, lays off staff after 'halting operations'

Remote studio Eggnut has announced that it will be shutting down, effective immediately. The developer behind the Tails Noir series is ceasing operations due to ongoing funding challenges.

'This situation really sucks,' stated Eggnut. 'We are unable to continue development of our new game that we've been working on for the past two years.'

Eggnut has mentioned that its remaining funds will be used to compensate its 15-person full-time staff so they can 'reorganize, seek new employment, and hopefully continue creating.'

Established in 2017, Eggnut is known for developing the two Tails Noir games, which are interactive visual novels. The original Tails Noir was released in 2021, with its prequel, Tails Noir Preludes, just launched in 2023.

The remaining Eggnut team will continue to provide support for both games.

'It's been a pleasure having your support,' Eggnut concluded. 'The world is in chaos. The gaming industry is facing challenges. Remember to call your mom.'
